Small Yes, Big Cover: What a 2015 Magazine Blurb Taught Me About Visibility

📖 Throwback Thursday, Collective edition. In 2015, I opened a magazine and saw my name in the same issue as Dr. Oz and Oprah. 😄 I'll never forget the day I got the request to write a small blurb for First for Women magazine. When the release date was announced, I ran to the store as fast as I could and picked up several copies. The November 30, 2015 issue featured me in "3 Expert Strategies to Nix 'Company's Coming' Stress" (pg. 88). I'm sharing the pages here because print doesn't always live online, and looking at them again reminded me of something I want every woman in this community to hear. 1. Your expertise only works if people can find it. You can be great at what you do and still stay invisible. Someone has to know you exist before they can trust you, hire you, or refer you. Ladies, you are allowed to be seen. 2. Say yes to the small stuff. When I wrote that blurb, I had no idea where it would end up. It wasn't a big campaign or a headline moment. It was one small yes that landed in an issue sitting in checkout lines across the country. You never know which yes will become your proudest feature. 3. Keep your own archive. Not every feature has a link, and websites come and go. Screenshot it, scan it, save it. If I hadn't grabbed those copies, this story would have been lost. Your credibility shouldn't disappear when a page does. 4. Old wins still work for you. A feature from years ago can still build trust today. Don't let your past wins collect dust. Bring them back, share them, and let them keep working for you. Now I want to hear from you. What's a win you've been sitting on that deserves to be shared? Drop it below, and let's celebrate it together. 👇
